    Thread your needle and tie a knot at the end of the length of wool. Feed the needle in through the canvas, front to back. Push the needle back through the canvas about 6 holes away from where you started and one hole up so the back thread sits slightly diagonally.

    Next push the needle through the hole that sits diagonally blow and make the first stitch, in the direction of the knot.

    Next push the needle from the back to the front, making sure you have covered the long thread at the back to secure.

    Continue stitching back over the thread towards the knot, threading the needle in and out through the canvas in a diagonal pattern.

    The back

    The stitches on the back of the canvas should cover the thread to secure. Cut the knot off the thread on the front. Snip quite closely to the canvas, otherwise you will get a scruffy end showing.
