About our printed canvases

Our canvases are professionally printed in Devon by experienced needlework canvas printers, using water-based textile inks. The canvas is 100% cotton manufactured by Zweigart in Germany, which can be recognised by its orange thread line on the selvedge.

Great care is taken over the printed colours to achieve an accurate representation of the wool colours, whilst bearing in mind the need for ease of colour differentiation when stitching.

About Appletons wool

Appletons (established nearly 200 years ago) select the finest wool from the wool markets in Yorkshire and produce 423 different beautiful shades. Tapestries made from their wool last for generations and they are proud to have been involved with the recent completion of the Bayeux Tapestry, the Prostonpans tapestry and the Great Tapestry of Scotland.
